In days long gone by, Punch and Judy Shows were performed in towns and villages all around the country.
With the coming of the railways in the 1800's people from those towns and villages began making visits to the seaside 
for day trips and holidays; Punch and Judy thought it would be a good idea if they went with them!

These iconic shows were performed all around the coast to delighted audiences of all age groups.
The recreational habits of the population have changed, and there are now fewer visitors to the seaside than there used to be.
This is one of the reasons for the reduced number of shows performed at the seaside today.

Shows can still be seen in shopping centres, at galas, fairs, fetes and other social events.
People still enjoy having a good laugh watching Punch and Judy Shows and...
